PRO FOOTBALL — January 3
TENNESSEE at SEATTLE
(Titans -6, Total 45) — [private] Everybody has to applaud the Titans for rebounding from the 0-6 start to contend for a wild card spot. However, the last stand for Tennessee may have been that overtime win over the Dolphins. Last week it looked like they were laying down against San Diego. Now the focus is on getting Chris Johnson over the 2000-mark, and maybe even to exceed Eric Dickerson’s NFL record. That doesn’t mean that Seattle, which has been blown out three straight weeks (by a 106-24 margin) is going to lay down, and this defense, which has been burned by two very capable quarterbacks (Matt Schaub, Aaron Rodgers) and one rookie (Josh Freeman), may enjoy the fact that the plays will be “telegraphed.” If the Seahawks are going to put forward an effort anywhere, it could be here at home, where they have scored three double-digit wins, including two shutouts. Rumors are swirling about Jim Mora’s imminent head-chopping; if this team performs the way it has for the last three weeks, that might be his clincher.
