COLLEGE BASKETBALL — February 8
VILLANOVA at WEST VIRGINIA
(West Virginia -5.5) — [private] Villanova found itself shocked the other day against Georgetown, allowing 103 points and 56% shooting to the Hoyas. Boy, it’s hard to buck this West Virginia squad, which has scored wins over Ohio State, Louisville and Pittsburgh over the last couple of weeks. However, that poor defensive performance should be the wake-up call Jay Wright wants to feed his troops, and his Wildcats came back with a certain vengeance after their previous defeat. Let’s not forget that ‘Nova can put up points in bunches (85.2 ppg is second in the country among “board” teams) and the Mountaineer backcourt won’t have the easiest time in the world keeping up.
