COLLEGE BASKETBALL — February 21
OHIO STATE at MICHIGAN STATE
(Michigan State -4) — [private] We’re thinking that Kalin Lucas looks pretty good in the last couple of games after being benched by Tom Izzo for a lack of leadership. That was a nice wake-up call, but no one provides leadership quite like the do-everything Evan Turner (19.5 ppg, 9.2 rpg), who is making a strong case for player of the year, not only in the conference, but in the country. Izzo’s Spartans haven’t held onto the momentum the way you figured they might, given their history under Izzo. So maybe our question is whether Ohio State, which came up just short against Purdue, has the horses to put this one in the win column. The Buckeyes didn’t get any points out of their bench, but with Turner, David Lightly and Dallas Lauderdale, they ought to be able to rebound with the Spartans.
