COLLEGE BASKETBALL — February 8
KANSAS at TEXAS
(Kansas -2) — [private] Going back a few weeks, you wouldn’t have thought that Kansas would have been laying points on the road at then-#1 Texas. But now Kansas is #1, having rebounded from its only loss to short-handed Tennessee with eight straight wins, and though they haven’t been blowing everybody away, they have posted nice road wins at Nebraska and Kansas State during that time. They have dropped their last three laying points, but you’d have to say that with their depth and speed, they are much more prepared for this moment than the Longhorns, who have lost four of their last six games and dropped nine of the last ten against the number. We’re not sure Texas gets much of an edge on the boards, and Kansas can send some reinforcements in to back up All-America guard Sherron Collins, who has a huge edge over Dogus Balbay. Texas still doesn’t have its act together at the free throw line, making just 37% in the defeat at Oklahoma on Saturday night.
