COLLEGE BASKETBALL — February 28
CLEMSON at FLORIDA STATE
(Florida State -5) — From its February 10 loss to Clemson, in which the Seminoles hit only 38% of their shots, FSU has come roaring back with three straight victories. Revenge is unquestionably a motivator, and Clemson is not at its best as a traveler, with no covers in the ACC so far. FSU’s defense (27.1%) also stacks up as one of the best in the nation. At the same time, the ‘Noles have not been very good at covering numbers in Tallahassee (4-8 ATS), and one of the reasons for that may be their subpar performances at the free throw line, where they often struggle to get over 60%. Clemson is on more of a roll in that area, and as long as they can turn defense into offense (9.7 steals per game) while FSU turns it over way to much (16.6 per contest), we don;t see Leonard Hamilton’s team creating much of a margin.
