WASHINGTON STATE (+8.5) vs. NORTH CAROLINA (Total 142) — North Carolina has smoked both opponents thus far, scoring 221 total points, and was especially dominant in a 108-77 blowout of Arkansas. It is incumbent upon any team who wants to keep pace with the Tar Heels to control the tempo and shorten the game. Washington State is fortunate in that it is fully equipped to do so. The Cougars, molded in the image of coach Tony Bennett and his father Dick, who perfected this strategy with teams like Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Green Bay, has taken two good offensive teams - Winthrop and Notre Dame- and slowed them to a crawl, holding them to 41 points apiece. Notre Dame was averaging 81 points a game and shot just 25%, while Tim Harangody was limited to just three field goals. Wisconsin has all the capability to cause some frustration for the Heels and Roy Williams, who has won a national title in Chapel Hill but has often underachieved in this tournament, even when he has had superior talent.
