PRO BASKETBALL — February 22
MILWAUKEE at NEW YORK
(Knicks -1.5, Total 207.5) — [private] Some would wonder why the Knicks are favored in this game. After all, Milwaukee has won eight of its last eleven games and has covered seven of its last eight road games, has brought John Salmons on board and is demonstrating not only that it can play improved defense, but that it can survive and thrive without Michael Redd, who is out of action. The Knicks’ main concern has been clearing money under the salary cap,. and they have done that for next summer;s free agent crop, which they hope will include LeBron James. However, that kind of writes off this season, and with a lack of depth the Knicks have admitted that they will be leaning more and a more to that “Eight Seconds or Less” offense that coach Mike D’Antoni is known for employing. Since they don’t play much defense (48% FG’s allowed), you know what that does to the total.
