PRO BASKETBALL — May 7
Game 2 — Western Conference Playoffs
UTAH (+7) at LA LAKERS (Total 210.5) — Well, let’s put it this way - if Kobe Bryant had NOT won the MVP yesterday, he probably would have tried to score 60 points tonight and taken his whole team out of the game. Good thing. You know, it’s difficult to go with a team that was 17-24 on the road, both SU and ATS in the regular season, when it can’t get anywhere near its normal level of shooting proficiency. The Jazz shot just 38% on Game 1 of this series, and it’s not as if that’s been an anomaly either. In fact, only once in its last nine games has Utah reached the 50% it shot during the season. And the Lakers are stepping up the defensive intensity, not yielding as much as 45% in any of the last seven games they’ve played. And it’s not as if they have played anemic offensive teams in this post-seasn either (Denver previously). Carlos Boozer, a 55% shooter in the regular season, has hit just 37% of his attempts over his last four games.
