BASEBALL — May 7
TEXAS (Padilla) at SEATTLE (Bedard) (Line: -160/+140, Total 8.5) — Texas is playing better now, winning seven of its last 11 contests. But the Rangers are allowing an awful lot of runs (5.7 per game, last in the league). Vicente Padilla has been the most efficient starter Texas has, on a staff that doesn’t have many stoppers. In his last two starts against Seattle, he’s given up two runs. Bedard has allowed just one earned run in his two starts since getting off the disabled list. In his last four starts against Texas, covering 28 innings, he’s given up just 16 hits. Looks like this could be a rare pitchers’ duel for the Rangers, who have played 19 of their 34 games over the total.
