BASEBALL — May 3
SAN DIEGO (Peavy) at FLORIDA (Nolasco) (Line: San Diego -160/+140, Total
— Jake Peavy’s last outing against Arizona was stellar, as he struck out nine D-Backs and scattered four hits over seven innings. But the Padres, averaging 3.2 runs per game, have scored more than four runs just once in the last nine games. We know that he’s pitched pretty well against the Marlins, shutting them down in all but one of the last five encounters. Ricky Nolasco may not be very reliable (6.53 ERA), but the Florida bullpen has generally done a great job, and the Marlins stopped the bleeding a little in Friday night’s 6-4 win.
