BASEBALL — May 9
NY YANKEES (Igawa) at DETROIT (Rogers) (Line: Detroit -135/+115, Total 10) — Kenny Rogers, the veteran who once pitched for the Yankees, has been pretty solid in his last couple of starts. One of those starts was six innings against the Yankees ten days ago where he allowed just a couple of runs. The Yankees are coming back with Kei Igawa, who despite being a standout in the Japanese League is still an unknown quantity over here. He was most prominently seen in spring training giving up a grand slam against the University of South Florida. Small play, but can’t go with Igawa just yet.
