BASEBALL — May 10
COLORADO (Jimenez) at SAN DIEGO (Maddux) (Line: San Diego -125/+105, Total
— Ubaldo Jimenez, along with Aaron Cook, has been the most consistent pitcher for the defending National League champs in what has thus far been a disappointing year. And there is certainly something to be said for the fact that Colorado has scored 1.1 more runs per game than the Padres. But Greg Maddux, after four unsuccessful tries, may find the conditions right to pick up his 350th lifetime win. Maddux has been blown up just once this season, giving up nine runs in seven innings to Arizona, but he had a 2.00 ERA before that unfortunate outing and since then his ERA has been 3.32. Take note that the Rockies have lost each of Jimenez’s last five starts.
