BASEBALL — May 6
BALTIMORE (Burres) at OAKLAND (Duchscherer) (Line: Oakland -145/+125, Total:
— Both teams are struggling on offense lately - the A’s have scored eleven runs in their last four, while Baltimore has tallied just 14 runs in their last six. So the atmosphere is not ripe for a lot of runs being scored. Both teams have played a lot of unders lately, they have young pitchers who can get the job done - Justin Duchscherer has given up four runs in 15 innings, and is making a smooth transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation, not to mention getting over his biceps injury nicely. Brian Burres has been exceptional with the exception of one start. Oakland leads the majors in bullpen ERA, at 2.68, while Baltimore isn’t so bad at 3.54.
